'Killer' Augmented Reality
Who would you rather shoot at: Real-life rouge agents played by your friends or abstract pixels? Enter Gunman, the first augmented reality shooter for the iPhone that taps the enemy recognition technology to take care of the body count.
This is seriously cool - though I can definitely see some people breaking their iPhones - perhaps a wristband like the wii remote is called for?
Also, check out their WEBSITE

More Augmented Reality reality...
I'm putting my money down on augmented reality as the next 'big thing'
key is to get it right (and scalable) first...

Being followed on twitter

There is much speculation, and indeed many 'professionals' throwing in their 2 cents worth, around how twitter could actually turn itself into a viable, revenue generating, business.
But nowhere have I seen one specific observation. Sure, twitter is 'social' as far as social media goes, but it is by no means, at least in my experience with it, a social network. In the most case, I do not head to twitter to hook up with my mates, get their updates, and interact with them on twitter, no - that's what facebook's for, and that's what they do really well.
twitter rather, seems more of a place where I can connect with brands, companies, and publishers that interest me. It is the ultimate tool for COMPANIES to reach and communicate with their audience in a way that that is not overly intrusive because it fits well within the context of the site.
So twitter have done extremely well in creating a HIGH VALUE communication platform for companies that essentially, has enough value that these companies would be willing to pay for - but that ship has sailed. And you really can't get away from the chicken-egg-type-syndrome that most website publishers face which is audience (buyers) vs. content (sellers)
Hmmm....

A few things that I appreciate
Creativity
Guitar Hero
Gifted-ness (or whatever the correct English of that is)
Large warehouses
Fun
This is what happens when you put them all together.

The new MAGIC MOUSE from APPLE - holy wow!

Magic Mouse — with its low-profile design and seamless top shell — is so sleek and dramatically different, it brings a whole new feel to the way you get around on your Mac. You can’t help but marvel at its smooth, buttonless appearance. Then you touch it and instantly appreciate how good it feels in your hand. But it’s when you start using Magic Mouse that everything comes together.
The Multi-Touch area covers the top surface of Magic Mouse, and the mouse itself is the button. Scroll in any direction with one finger, swipe through web pages and photos with two, and click and double-click anywhere. Inside Magic Mouse is a chip that tells it exactly what you want to do. Which means Magic Mouse won’t confuse a scroll with a swipe. It even knows when you’re just resting your hand on it.

Question for the day

So here's my question for the day?
so most people actually know what they want - or are they simply going on what they think they want without really thinking about it?
Apply this to life - to work - to religion - to consumerism - to deciding what you're going to do this weekend - to whatever the bloody hell you want. Just please... think about it first.

WOW!
Talk about amazing!
Check this video that was in the news last night.
Not only is this woman going to be scarred for life, she also almost got her head taken off by a train.
In the end, everyone was fine.
The train driver needed some mental counseling too though :P

Love a little remix
I recently acquired a keyboard in an attempt to expand my musical abilities.
The first song I decided to teach myself was the new Kanye song - Heartless (even though he's a douche, the song is pretty decent).
Another band whose music I'm always happy to have playing in the background is The Fray.
And I'm a HUGE fan of mash-ups.
So this is what happened:

Handy little tool

Because most computer screens sit in closed cases - they can often get very dirty on the inside.
THIS is a very handy little tool I found to keep your computer screen completely dust free :D
It works brilliantly!

Bobby McFerrin is awesome!
Bobby McFerrin demonstrates the power of the pentatonic scale at the event “Notes & Neurons: In Search of the Common Chorus,” from the 2009 World Science Festival. He asks for the audiences’ participation in this activity, and the result is quite magical!

Make calls from Twitter!
A new third-party offering from Jajah known as Jajah@call went into beta Thursday morning that will allow Twitter users to initiate a two-way voice chat with other users by typing "@call @username"--where "username" is someone's Twitter ID--into any Twitter client. During the beta period, the company said, the calls will be limited to two minutes, but the company will evaluate that length during beta. However, it sees the two minute period--after which the call will end--as "the verbal equivalent of a tweet."

Awesome advert by SABC 1 in South Africa where whites have reversed roles with blacks to produce an interesting concept. Set in Soweto South Africa. - makes a good point though!

Kanye West is a douche bag
Kanye West Asked To Leave VMAs After Rant Against Taylor Swift
Kanye West was asked to leave Radio City Music Hall not long after he crashed the MTV Video Music Awards stage during Taylor Swift's acceptance speech for Best Female Video.
The rapper rushed onto the stage and immediately protested Swift's win, saying Beyoncé instead deserved the honor.
"I'm sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time," 'Ye proclaimed after he pulled the microphone out of the country star's hands. B looked stunned as she sat by in the audience.

While there is much to be said about the digital age and how it will affect the generations of next, this is probably a bit more of a light-hearted take on the matter.

responsible parenting?

so the other night we were all commenting on this 16 year old girl who was setting off to navigate the globe ... solo!
the news was mentioning all the potential threats and dangers she could come up against which sparked a conversation over whether or not this was a responsible thing to do - not only from her side, but from her parents too - and the nine network that had secured exclusive rights to cover the story (isn't that what it's all about these days).
I couldn't help but worry about what this little girl was about to experience (though some good character building no doubt).
anyway, my worries were soon pacified upon news that she hadn't even managed to complete her trial run without hitting a 60,000 tonne coal tanker. I mean honestly, it's not a packet of cigarettes is it?! It's a bloody coal tanker! How can you miss that!

Dear Future Me

This is a really clever idea that allows you to send your future-self an e-mail.
Perhaps you want to make sure you achieve a certain short/mid-term goal, remind yourself to do something, or even check if you're still around...
Check it out!

Relevant and contextual advertising... at its worst

A campaign that launched a while back that, contrary to the opinions of some other colleagues, I originally thought was pretty quirky and hit-the-spot - just spoiled it for me.
Telstra's 'Call Mum' campaign got the message across last year on Xmas day, and then again on New Year's Day, through sky-writing their 'Call Mum' message over the thousands of people laying on bondi beach.
Great work guys! But on father's day... maybe the message is not that relevant. You probably would have been better extending the campaign reaching for people to 'call dad' - but hey...
